AFC Hindley Juniors
- AFC Hindley Juniors is an FA Charter Standard Community Club
- It comprises 2 Senior Teams, 16 Youth Teams (including 3 female teams) 7 Mini-Soccer Teams (inc 1 female) and a mini-league of 24 mixed ability and mixed sex teams. The mini league also caters for children with disabilities.
- That’s 49 teams total this year, plus a “Reception Class” of around 30 4 and 5 year olds, receiving an intro to the game, so well over 600 players from 4 to open age,
- We were one of the first 9 clubs in Lancashire to achieve Community Club Status in 2003
- In 2000, we were awarded Sport England’s VIP Award as the best run voluntary sports organization (all sports not just football) in the North of England
- Club was formed in May 1991. Originally intended to run as a “Summer Coaching School” for 10 weeks
When we came to the end of the 10 weeks, 64 kids whom had joined during the summer had nowhere to go.. So HIndley Juniors was formalized into a Club and Mini Soccer League was formed to accommodate 8 mini teams - We were playing mini soccer long before any FA directives on this and “unknowingly” using the Dutch Club model
- By 1993 we had grown to nearly 300 players and 26 teams, including our first “representative” team
- In 94 we realized facilities would be the csf to the clubs long term progression & made 1st application for 25 year lease on our facilities
- It took 5 years of persuasion and negotiation and the intervention of LFA (whose support & guidance has been vital) to get the lease in reality
- In 1999 we were awarded the lease and a £60k Sport England grant to develop top quality playing surfaces (work completed in 2002)
- Our FF bid for £425630 was frustrated from 1999 to 2004 for a number of political, technical and – most costly – environmental issues
- FF grant awarded 2004 and work completed (clubhouse, car park, 6 changing rooms) June 06
- THIS IS THE START!
- Next 5 year Development Plan highly focused on
- 1st team to NWCL (csf = stadium facilities + scaling youths / seniors)
- Continuous Improvement in Youth and Minis = Coach Ed & Development, Parent Ed, with continued LFA guidance & support + improving the BWFC link and other Experts in fields. Migration to 9 v 9 at U11 to U13 (facilities again being key) and equivalent development of Girls football to match historic on lads

They start as young as 4 here at Hindley Juniors in our soccer reception class for 4 to 6 year olds, which runs every Sunday Morning. From here they advance into our unique mini soccer section for 6 to 10 year olds, which is the ideal environment for your child to learn how to play football. The mini soccer section caters for boys, girls and children with disabilities up to the Under 10's age group. Hindley Juniors also run a representative football section this section is split into two sections Mini Soccer Reps and Youth Reps. Every child has the opportunity to enter our youth football section and play in either the Bolton and Bury league on Saturday Morning, the Wigan league on Sunday Morning or both.
