Opening News Letter Season 2007-2008
Welcome to Hindley Juniors
Hello, good morning and welcome to the Hindley Juniors Mini League as we get set to start the new season 2007/8.For the newcomers amongst you, let me start by briefly introducing the club to you (and by the way, you can learn a lot more about the organisation by attending the Parents Introduction Evenings in October, or by reading the Handbook
Hindley Juniors is a FA Charter Standard Community Club
Hindley Juniors is a FA Charter Standard Community Club – there are only 15 clubs in Lancashire and less than 100 in England who have such accreditation (that’s less than 100 out of about 500,000 Clubs!) You do not get awarded Community Club status without meeting very stringent criteria on every aspect on which the club is run. The most important of these criteria include:Child Protection
Every one of our coaches and volunteers is “police cleared” through the Criminal Records Bureau via Football AssociationQualified Football Coaches
All of our coaches are required to complete the FA Level 1 Coaching course, which includes Child Protection and Emergency First Aid as well as coaching topics; and a number have taken the Level 2 qualification. The club provides further education for all the coaches, involving BWFC, the LFA and Skilwise Sports each year and most coaches give up their time to attend.

Link with Bolton Wanderers
the club is now a partner of Bolton Wanderers and is officially a part of the BWFC Academy. This is not just an honour for the club (there are just 6 junior clubs which have that link) but a major practical benefit for the coaches. Most importantly, the children will benefit from the quality advice and education we will get from the professionals on every aspect from coaching to psychology to diet and nutrition. BWFC scouts watch our games regularly and there are currently 7 players from our mini league “signed up” with BWFC .Football For All
Hindley Juniors is dedicated to providing football for all –regardless of ability, disability, sex, race, colour, creed or any other factor. Our mini leagues are “balanced” and our ethos, rules and codes are aimed at ensuring literally every player can enjoy and express them self, gain confidence playing as a member of a team and socialise with their peers.Football for Life
the club has over 600 players on the books! These range from children as young as 4 in the Reception Class, through the mini soccer section (6 to 10 year olds), to the “youth section” (11 to 16) and “seniors” (U17 to Open Age). Players can join the club at 4 yrs old, play through their infancy, youth and adult life, pack in playing at (say) 40 and then do their FA Level 1 and become a coach! I don’t think I’ll be around to see some of this years Reception Class take their Level 1s after a successful playing career, but on the other hand, I’m sure it will happen!Hindley Juniors is a voluntary organisation
everyone involved in the running of the teams and the club overall, is here for the same reason: because they brought their child here to play football. Without volunteers the club simply could not exist or operate. So if you like what you see at the club (or if there are things you don’t like, or believe you can improve) please step forward as a much needed volunteer. We will give you every bit of help you may need. And if you can’t commit yourself to volunteering, then just help those who do in a few simple but important ways.Just a couple of Examples
- Don’t just drop your litter on the floor for a volunteer to pick up. A coffee cup/ tissue/ toffee wrapper taken to the skip by individuals saves a thousand pieces having to be picked up by 2 or 3 volunteers at the end of the day.- Ask your team manager what you can do to help him (perhaps a couple of you can carry the goals to the pitch – or back to the storage area at the end of the day’s play- whilst he sees to the needs of the team).
- Read and observe the Clubs Code of Conduct for Parents/ Guardians, Coaches and Players and ideally complete the FA Soccer Parent Questionnaire on the FA website Go to the F.A. Soccer Parent here.... Each will take about half an hour but will “open your eyes” as to how to help your children enjoy and get the most out of their football experience if the environment is safe and completely free from pressure from their parents and coaches.
